I’ve just taken the SEO role at my agency full time and, whilst it can be difficult at times, I am liking the challenge. I wonder if you had any suggestions when it came to finding “opportunity keywords” for term/subjects that don’t necessarily have massive search volumes associated to them? I use a few tools and utilise Google’s related terms already, but wondered if there were any tricks for finding new markets?

I have been trying to produce more content because I believed the lack of traffic was to the small amount of content, but after reading your blog post, i’m beginning to doubt wether or not this is quality content. I will definitely do more research on influencers on my niche, now I have to figure out how to get their attention with my kind of content.
If you’ve been on LinkedIn recently, you’ll know that native video is killing it. However, long-form text posts with a clever hook do really well too. LinkedIn can be a great place to connect with others and engage on content that interests you, while posting about interesting a creative blog post ideas that you think your network will be interested in. In my experience though, if you wan to drive traffic to your blog from LinkedIn—you need to make sure your posts are link-free (in order to hit their algorithm just right), but you can leave a link to your blog content in the first comment as a reply to your posting.
As I had a teacher at school who was always really picky on how to draw conclusions I must say that the conclusions you drew for your health situation might be true, but dangerous. For example: If slightly more women than men suffer from health deseases it could be wise to write the information toward women. But, if you take search behaviour into account thing could look a lot different: It might turn up that men search more than women or that (senior) men are more present on the net than women.
Really its just a matter of getting creative - grab a cup of caffeine and think for a minute about what resources you have to try to get some insight on your visitors (or target markets) and their needs before you dive in. Think about how much time it might take you (or what the cost of the reports would be if you are going to buy some market research reports), and tack that onto your billing as an optional service.
Maybe you’re looking to spice up your blog up with some different content for your readers. Instead of doing all the research and reporting back on your findings, you may want to look into having a guest blogger. Why, you ask? Having a guest blogger can be helpful in multiple ways, as you allow others to add content to your website. Your readers will be able to receive fresh content from a different perspective, and your guest may carry an expertise in a subject that you don’t have. Another benefit to getting some fresh blood in your blog is that your guest’s followers will likely head to your website when the post is published. It’s a win-win for the both of you.
